After the Noise...
2008-11-09:Thanks to all people who were there yesterday at the NCF IV festival!
We had a very good time, the organisation was super-friendly and the SJU Jazzclub is one hell of a modern venue. The acoustics are tops and the equipment to die for. Thumbs up! We met some very nice people, we received very good comments yet again.
This gig was the first one with our new audio engineer Wim. After all the good comments we received about him yesterday, I think he's a keeper. He did a great job and we feel totally comfortable with him behind the faders.
Pictures were taken, we will raffle through them and upload some very soon. Other pictures, reviews or audio still welcome!
Playlist was: Ossetian Ossuary - Love Your Terrorist - Dogged - Le Jugement Du Roi En Jaune - De Te Fabula Narratur - Distress
See you next time!

CD Reviews + Interview
2008-10-12:The first reviews are coming in. We decided to bundle these in a special 'reviews' category on the Links page. Go check them out!
We've done our second interview ever, published by German magazine Obliveon.de
These people gave us a nice review beforehand and we're happy we can give them some comments and explanations about the first full cd and FGG in general.
The above link to the magazine proper is the German version, so we did a bit of translating for you. Since this is a lengthy affair, we're happy to direct you to the English translation in our MySpace Blog here.

FGG releases first full-cd
2008-07-15:
After appearances on several compilations, including the highly-acclaimed Cold Meat Industry-release ‘All My Dead Friends’, For Greater Good found the time ripe to issue a first full-cd.
The CD consists of 10 songs, good for over 50 minutes of music ranging from dark ambient over neo-classical towards a more industrial sound. For this, FGG uses a combination of synthesizers, samples, noises and acoustic instruments.
Guest musician on this album is Edwin Vanvinckenroye (Troissoeur, Tribe, HandCrafted,…) on vocals and violin. Mastering was done by Daniel B. (Front 242,…)The theme of the songs is as varied as the sound. For Greater Good serves as a spectator towards life as it is. They give facts and topics to think about, without force-feeding you their own opinion; the sorrow of tragedies in ‘Ossetian Ossuary’, the present day abuse and violation of Human Rights in ‘Love your Terrorist’, but also the more mundane annoyance of a simple traffic jam in ‘Rush Hour’.
The cd is suited as a soundtrack for everyday life... the darker as well as the lighter moments.
This full-cd can be bought directly from us. The price is 10 euro, postage and package for Belgian residents included. For people living abroad we will calculate the postage costs prior to sending.
Payment can be done by bank transfer, IBAN transfer or by PayPal, for more info and account data please get in touch with us by filling in the form on the 'Contact Us' page.Alternatively, you can buy the debut album from a distributor near you. These are the worldwide distro's where you can buy the cd. New ones will be added as soon as we know they have our album in stock.
The album is also available as digital download from various sources.
You can find the downloadable cd at all iTunes stores worldwide, as well as Rhapsody and eMusic. -
FGG is looking for artistic collaborations...
2008-06-04:For Greater Good is looking for people that can and are willing to contribute to our live shows or to join us in artistic collaboration.
We are thinking about filmmakers and amateur short movie makers in the first place, to provide our future shows with new video projections. Just go to our MySpace or our website, listen to the songs, and if one of those appeals to you and you see images in your mind already, give us a shout!
But we will not limit the mixture of The Arts to just film...
If you are a photographer, a choreographer, a dancer, if you are a designer, you are into fashion, a writer, you do some cool stuff with lighting, you can do awesome things with colored ribbons, you make amazing sand sculptures,...
Whatever!
For Greater Good is looking beyond the niche of the ambient music scene, and wants to combine their music with all forms of expressions and art. Collaboration beyond the boundaries of style and label, all for greater good...If you think your Art can contribute to our music or live shows, do not hesitate to contact us, no matter how weird it might look at first, whether you're a pro or an amateur... if in your mind you see your artform combined with the atmosphere and ambience of our music, a collaboration might be a very interesting experience indeed...

The first full-cd is a-coming!
2008-05-11:FGG has been busy creating their first full-cd, this time things are really in the pipeline.
We received the mastered audio cd back from Daniel B. (of Front 242), we sent in the obligatory papers for the pressing, and the artwork is done.
Next stop: the pressing factory!
Expect a cd very soon now, you had to wait a long time for it, thank you all for your patience!

FGG features on Belgian Sampler
2007-08-06:
For Greater Good was included on a fine Belgian Homerecording Sampler CD called "From Bedroom to Headroom" with the song 'Rush Hour'.
This sampler contains 18 tracks, with a variety of styles all mixed together.
What bonds these (sometimes totally different) tracks, is the site Homerecording.be, dedicated to Belgian homerecorders. So you get a lot of upcoming attic-room musicians, sometimes with their first tryouts, others with years of experience, but all of a surprising quality, professionally mastered by one of the forum members and pressed onto silver disc.
Well worth checking out, if not for us, then for the 17 other quite talented bands/musicians/DJs...
More info at: http://www.homerecording.be/compilatie or at the MySpace: http://www.myspace.com/homerecordingbe -
The new picture...
2007-07-22:As some of you might have noticed already, there is a new picture on this home page.
It was time for a new one, since the former was still a picture from our Antwerp gig, some years ago now.
The new one is from our Rock Wemmel gig, the most recent gig we played, and includes the two guest musicians Niels and Dave.
On the picture, from left to right: Iz - samdevos - Dave - Niels.

The Wemmel Review

Thanks to all the people there, the visitors as well as the crew. It was excellent, and we want to thank everyone that ran their legs off all day to make it as comfortable as possible for us. Respect!
Pictures will be online soon, this was the setlist:
DTFN - Love Your Terrorist - Dogged - Rush Hour - Le Jugement Du Roi En Jaune - Dawn Over Dachau - Distress

FGG to play Rock Wemmel, April 21st 2007

There is a website available, http://www.rockwemmel.be , where you can see the line-up as it is confirmed for the moment. More info will be added soon.

Hope to see you all there! -
New songs on our MySpace
2007-03-09:We put two new songs on the MySpace site.
The third song is 'Spring Mechanist', the 2006 version. A lighter song for FGG standards...
The fourth song is a 'danceable' remix of 'Le Jugement Du Roi En Jaune' by one of our mates, Bart Vervoort AKA Bamiteam. A surprising take on the neoclassical piece that was the original!
We will try to make it a tradition to include a friend's remix as fourth song on the MySpace page, consider this an invitation... :)

Enjoy! -
Waking up after the Birthday Gig...
2007-02-27:...it IS hard to do...
Suffice it to say it was just plain awesome? We can't even begin to thank everyone that turned up on this special Birthday Gig last Saturday, you are ALL the best!
The gig was just stunning, and it was not our doing alone, not in the least... the sound was good, the lighting was excellent, everything went (more or less) according to plan.
Some special thanks-es are due, especially to Steven and Christel from BackTRoots for being our hosts for the night, thanks for having us! They also played one hell of a setlist before and after the gig, which was highly enjoyed by all of us, no doubt.
Also a BIG thanks to the special guests from that nice English fanforum: The HeartLand Crew. You people are just plain amazing, and the foreigners, English, Dutch and German alike... you are just plain crazy. Love it. Very special mention to James Blast, our logo designer, for showing up. He was and is a real member of FGG, and always will be.
Also thanks to all the people at JH De Moeve for the logistics. I already mentioned it during the gig, but these people do all that work as volunteers, they deserve a statue of some sorts.
All the FGG friends, family, lovers, guests (Niels and Dave), video crew, audio crew, you made this an evening hard to forget...
We had a top night out, I hope you did as well. See you next year!
Setlist for tonight was Ossetian Ossuary - Le Jugement Du Roi En Jaune - Dogged - Love Your Terrorist - Dawn Over Dachau - Distress - Rush Hour - Afterhours - White Is The New Black - De Te Fabula Narratur - Hurt.
Expect some pictures up soon, and who knows what else... ;)

Website code change

For this to work, it is possible you have to do a cleanup of your Internet cache and cookies first, then restart your browser. -
