We have been rehearsing for the next concert on Sunday 25th 2013 at the Open Music Synergy Meeting in café Carpe Diem, Hasselt. Rehearsal sounded great and we’re looking forward to be on stage again. We hope to see you all there!
For Greater Good will perform Live at Pluto-Festival 2012, Nijdrop, Opwijk, Thursday 25th of October 2012. PLUTO 2012 is an audiovisual festival which focusses specifically on performing arts. It offers 4 days of intriguing and innovative electronic media and music acts.
Today on the Pluto-Festival-blog: “For Greater Good is the next project we announce. Mixing ambient with classical elements topped with found sounds, For Greater Good presents an audiovisual post-industrial wasteland for the audience to explore.”
Reviews of “The All4s Sessions” are coming in, the first one is from the Belgian FestivalBlog.be, where Erik gives the release a big thumbs up! :)
The review is in Dutch, but we were so generous to translate in English… enjoy!
“For Greater Good consists of Izzy (compositions, synth, vocals) and Sam (synth, noise, loops, vocals) and bring a kind of ambient that takes you to higher atmospheres and lets you relax completely, a fact already proven in 2008 when they delivered their debut ‘For Greater Good’. This latest album is a compilation of songs recorded during a live session in “Kessel @ Veranda”.
For Greater Good also teams up frequently with other artists. Not only on this album: in 2010 they already collaborated with Japanese cult writer Kenji Siratori. Time and again you’ll be immersed in an intimate atmosphere by the use of soundscapes, and a dark sense of calm overtakes you. Things can become very intense, a fact already proven several times on stage.
On this album you can truly ‘feel’ the music to the depths of your veins, not solely by the contribution of Izzy and Sam themselves, but the exquisite soft violin background sounds pretty heavenly thanks to Evan Roy; not to mention Jonas G. providing additional sampling to complete the picture. The best way to listen to this album is to close your eyes and let yourself drift on the gentle waves of the sea. It’s actually a good form of meditation which we can strongly recommend.
Ambient music is a genre that is perfectly suited for the latter, and For Greater Good has managed to bring it to a higher dimension. Beautiful, intense and intimately enjoyable!”
“FOR GREATER GOOD & FRIENDS- The All4s Sessions” is out now and available on Bandcamp!
Years ago, we did a jamsession at Veranda – Kessel, Belgium with the FGG core members Izzy and samdevos plus some guests; Evan Roy on violins and Jonas G on additional sampling. The 3-hour jam was recorded live to stereo track that we cut down to a 1-hour ambient electroacoustic session without any further editing and was named “The All4s Sessions”.
FOR GREATER GOOD wishes you all a Happy New Year and a healthy and music-filled 2012!
The album “FOR GREATER GOOD & FRIENDS – The All4s Sessions” will soon be available on Bandcamp!
Previous to the release, we would like to give away the track “No End” totally for FREE, to listen to in the drowsy aftermaths of New Year’s Eve. It will be available from January 1st till January 8th 2012, then the full All4s Sessions will be put online.
The For Greater Good gig in Liège was very nice! The venue was really cosy and a very good atmosphere. Of course all the bands present were well worth the visit! We had a great time and fun playing.
Thanks to Ethan Fawkes for organising this event! We had good fun, although the FGG crew was not at its fittest for this performance :)
Also big thanks again to Peter on stage and Mark behind the desk, without you guys For Greater Good would truly sound only half as good!
Setlist was: Ossetian Ossuary – Le Jugement Du Roi En Jaune – Orbit – Love Your Terrorist – Distress – Insane Asylum – DTFN – Ihtyll
Some excellent footage of For Greater Good performing “De Te Fabula Narratur” live @ Summer Darkness 2011 just surfaced. Thanx to Alex-Alive for filming! And while you are at our Youtube Page, check out some of our other video as well. Enjoy!
We had a great time being there and playing. Again Mark B. did a great job as our sound engineer, thanks! Also big thumbs up for Peter G and Peter DK, joining us on stage again, this setup works out very well. :-)
Also a big thanks to all people that came to this event, not always easy for a first-time event to reach out to people, but a lot of old friends AND a lot of new ones found their way to Mechelen.
A load of pictures were taken and we will post the best ones on our Flickr page asap. There is also some video material out there so stay tuned for that as well!
